AI-assisted search has created new terminology, but the foundation remains practical: a system must be able to access, interpret and trust the information it uses.
For a local service business, that means the digital identity should answer basic questions clearly.
Who is the business?
The name, address or service area, phone number, website and professional identity should be consistent. Conflicting details make the business harder to interpret for customers and machines.
What services are provided?
A vague homepage is not enough. Important services should be described in crawlable text with accurate explanations, clear relationships and appropriate supporting pages.
Where are the services available?
Location information should be genuine and useful. Mass-produced city pages with only a place name changed do not demonstrate real local understanding.
What evidence supports the claims?
Useful evidence may include:
- genuine reviews;
- credentials where relevant;
- clearly attributed authorship;
- project or treatment information;
- original observations;
- consistent business profiles;
- sources for factual claims.
Can the content be accessed?
Important service information should not exist only inside images or scripts that are difficult to crawl. Search crawlers should be allowed where appropriate, and structured data should match visible content.
What AI optimisation cannot promise
No consultant can guarantee that a specific AI system will recommend, quote or cite a business. AI products, source selection and ranking systems change.
A responsible service improves the conditions that support understanding:
- crawlability;
- entity clarity;
- useful answers;
- accurate structured information;
- evidence and consistency;
- strong traditional SEO foundations.
The practical audit question
The correct question is not, “Do we have an AI keyword?”
It is:
Can a search system clearly determine who the business is, what it does, where it operates and why the information is credible?
